SDG9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Investment in the industry and infrastructure of less developed countries is put at risk by the presence of armed conflict. Armed conflict both directly damages existing infrastructure and poses a significant risk to businesses which might otherwise invest. In order to create more equal industrialization of less developed countries it is necessary to ensure the security of their communities. Furthermore, the presence of organized crime networks—fuelled by gun violence—coincides with significant levels of corruption within the state. That corruption also limits investment in less developed countries, stymying their ability to provide dignified opportunity for their citizens.
