SDG11: Sustainable cities and communities

The presence of gun violence in our cities and communities limits investment, damages infrastructure, and results in significant costs that harm our long-term ability to develop sustainable cities. The infrastructural and technological development necessary to build environmentally sustainable cities, with necessary services for citizens, requires significant investment, stability and security. Gun violence is concentrated in poorer communities, with limited infrastructure and service provision. Lack of access to basic services within communities can be both a contributing factor to gun violence and a result of it.
